My verdict
Best for: Anyone who wants a slightly shorter show with the full tango and dinner experience, and loves the traditional grandeur and glamour of the 1920s.
Not for: Food lovers: the food is one of the weaker ones.
- Fully focused on tango: the music of Piazzolla, with Gardel too
- Perfect attention and service
- A central location in the historic Galería Güemes
- VIP in private opera boxes at the side, and a free tango class with dinner & show
- The food is fine, but not a reason to go
- Purely traditional: few special moments and no modern tango
- The room looks a little dated

My experience at Piazzolla Tango
I have been to Piazzolla Tango twice, most recently in December 2025. The show takes place in a beautiful theatre from 1915 in Galería Güemes, right in the city centre. It has kept its fabrics and its beauty, with the traditional grandeur of the 1920s, although the room looks a little dated here and there.
The show is fully focused on tango, with live music: mostly Piazzolla, but Carlos Gardel too. It feels a little shorter than other shows, and it is purely traditional. I did not have a moment where I thought "wow", and I missed some modern tango, but if you are looking for classic tango, it is good. The attention and service are perfect.
The food is fine, but I would not go for the food: it is one of the weaker ones. So I would go for the show only. If you do take dinner & show, you get a free short tango class: arrive 30 minutes early. Book a few days ahead, because it often sells out, and online rather than at the many street stands, which charge more.
My tip: A must if you stay in the city centre and want to see a traditional show. Skip the dinner. Book one to three days ahead, because it often sells out, and book online: the street stands charge more. With dinner & show, arrive 30 minutes early for the free tango class.

“Thank you, all went well”
Ilona D. · Couple · October 2024“We booked the tango show and dinner through this site and the booking process was seamless. It was the best priced among all the other sites and we even received a 5% early bird discount on top of that. We tried the food recommended at Mercado de San Telmo and they were excellent! Thank you so much!”
