My experience at Tango Porteño
I have been to Tango Porteño four times, most recently in January 2026. From the outside it feels a bit like Hollywood: a big white billboard with lights, right by the Obelisco. Inside, the large theatre takes you back to the Buenos Aires of the 1920s.
This is tango as a Broadway-style spectacle. Six dancing couples, a live orchestra and two singers fill a huge stage, and the sets change constantly between the acts, which is really impressive.
The room seats around 500 people, so it is big: the farthest tables are about 25 m from the stage. The best seats are in the middle, and VIP is on a raised balcony in the middle of the room. On a budget, the promo ticket for the show only is great value, and dinner & show is good value too.
My tip: On a budget? Take the promo ticket for the show only, or one of the good-value dinner & show options.

- Hotel shuttle: Add the round-trip hotel shuttle when you book (not with the promo ticket). You are picked up in your hotel lobby within a 30-minute window. Pick-up times: 20:00–20:30 in the city centre, 19:15–20:30 in Palermo. Areas: Recoleta, San Telmo, Retiro, Monserrat, Puerto Madero, San Nicolás, Palermo and the cruise terminal. You can book it until 12 hours before the start.

The show only is well worth it, especially with the budget-friendly promo ticket. Dinner & show is good value too. If good food matters most, choose VIP: it has a premium menu with more choice.
What is the difference between Executive and VIP?
Executive is on the first raised level, with separate tables at the same height as the stage, so the view is practically perfect, and you get the regular 3-course menu with better wines. VIP is on the raised balcony in the middle of the room, with a premium menu with more choice, premium wines and sparkling wine.
Where are the best seats at Tango Porteño?
In the middle of the room, where you see the whole stage. Executive, on the first raised level at stage height, is practically perfect; VIP is on a raised balcony in the middle. Right at the front you have to look up, because the stage is about 1.70 m high.
What is included with the promo ticket?
Entrance to the show only: no drinks and no hotel shuttle, and there is no child discount. Like the other packages, you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the show.
