Distance Between EZE and AEP: How Far and How Long?

Ezeiza Airport (EZE) is located about 32 kilometers (20 miles) from the center of Buenos Aires. It’s situated outside the city, in the province of Buenos Aires. In contrast, Aeroparque Airport (AEP) is located right next to the city center, along the Rรญo de la Plata river.

The travel time between EZE and AEP by car is around 60 minutes under normal traffic conditions. However, daytime traffic (from 7 AM to 7 PM) can significantly increase travel time to 1 hour and 30 minutes.

If you’re heading straight into the city and not connecting to another flight, I recommend reading my full guide on how to get from Ezeiza to Buenos Aires.

Know Your Airports: International vs Domestic Flightsย

Many travelers are confused by Argentinaโ€™s two major airports. Hereโ€™s how to keep it clear:

  • Ezeiza Airport (EZE) handles the majority of international flights, including arrivals from Europe, North America, and other continents.
  • Aeroparque Airport (AEP) handles mostly domestic flights and a few short regional routes like Uruguay, Brazil, or Chile.

Important: always double-check your flight reservation. Some international airlines offer connections through both airports, and people often assume they will stay at the same airport. That is not always the case.

What About Baggage? Do Airlines Transfer It For You?

This is a very common source of confusion. Let me be clear:

Even if your international and domestic flights are on the same booking, you must collect your luggage at Ezeiza (EZE). There is no baggage transfer service between the airports provided by the airlinesโ€”not even for same-airline tickets.

Youโ€™ll go through immigration, collect your baggage, pass customs, and then youโ€™ll be on your own to transfer it to AEP.

How Much Time Should You Calculate Between Flights?ย

Here is where most travelers make a mistake. They underestimate how much time they need to go from EZE to AEP. Trust my experience helping countless travelers: plan smart.

If you are arriving on an international flight at EZE and departing from AEP:

  • Absolute minimum 4 hours between arrival and departure.
  • This only works if you use a private transfer, so you can leave EZE quickly.
  • If you take a taxi, delays due to waiting times or availability can make this risky.

If your connection time is less than 5 hours? Book a private transfer. Donโ€™t take risks. You might miss your flight.

If you are arriving on a domestic flight at EZE and going to AEP:

  • Take at least 3 hours, but again, this is the bare minimum.
  • Also here, use a private transfer to save time.

If you have more time and want to save a bit of money, you can consider a taxi or Uber. But plan accordingly.

Best Way to Travel From EZE to AEPย

A private transfer is your most efficient and reliable option. It may cost a bit more, but the driver waits for you at Ezeiza, and you leave the airport immediately. Youโ€™ll be dropped off at the correct terminal location at AEP, with no stress. This is especially important during the day, when heavy traffic can make the journey much longer than expected.

A regular taxi is another option and is usually a bit cheaper these days, but not by much. For full details and important tips when taking a taxi in Buenos Aires, check my guide on taking taxis in Buenos Aires.

Important Note on Payment:

If you decide to take a taxi, remember that they only accept cash. That means youโ€™ll need to exchange money at Ezeiza International Airport, which can add 30 minutes to your transfer time. Official exchange booths are available, though the rate might not be great.

Uber is possible and lets you pay through the app, which avoids the cash issue. But in reality, Uber availability at Ezeiza can be limited, and drivers sometimes ask to cancel or switch to cash. Itโ€™s not the most reliable choice, especially if time is tight.

Shuttle service from EZE to AEP

A one-way ticket costs around USD 16. Neo Bus runs approximately every 90 minutes and is slightly cheaper, with tickets starting from USD 12.
