Fireworks in Buenos Aires
Celebrating in Buenos Aires is without an official fireworks show. Because fireworks are not allowed by the city. However, you will see the fireworks around the city. ย Try to go to a bar or restaurant with a rooftop and have the best view. Below you see a video of fireworks in Puerto Madero. It’s also one of my favorite places to go on New Years Eve.
The place to on New Year in Buenos Aires
My top choice is Puerto Madero. The restaurants are open, setting up some music stereos outside, and all together shouting 3, 2, 1, Feliz Aรฑo Nuevo! For sure, it will be crowded. Take a bottle of 2, 3, 4,… with you and enjoy the improvisedย festivities. People are dancing and singing on the docks. People from the restaurants are also outside celebrating.
Palermo is also a place to be. The trendy neighborhood of Buenos Aires is the hotspot for many residents. Bars with an open rooftop, or just having a drink on the streets and wander around.
Traditionally Porteรฑos (Buenos Aires residents) are celebrating New Year with friends or family in their houses and meet outside just before midnight.
What restaurant to go to?
First of all, make a reservation in advance. Because many Argentinians will go out and the top restaurants will be full before you know.
You will have a great choice when it comes to finding a restaurant. Most of the restaurants are open and are organizing special dinner parties. You can expect a wide arrangement of dishes, drinks, and sometimes a show inside the restaurant. So, pick your favorite, and make a reservation. Also, tango shows are organizing special activities to celebrate the new year.
Tango show on New Year’s Eve
Another thing to do on New Year’s Eve is going to a tango show in Buenos Aires. Most of the venues are organizing a special evening with the best menu possible. Of course, a spectacular tango show and a counting down moment on 12 o’clock. Here too, you need to make a reservation on time.

Hi!
Thank you for creating such a resourceful site! Iโm visiting Buenos Aires for NYE and wondering if you had any favorite restaurants that I can reach out to for NYE dinner reservations?
Hi Sabrina, at Puerto Madero there are restaurants and some activities around New Years Eve. It’s a bit searching which restaurant will be open that night.
